Count washes, not days
A three-day trip does not automatically require three days of every hair product you own. Start by planning when you expect to wash and style your hair, using your normal habits as a guide. A train trip to visit friends, a wedding weekend, and a beach stay create different needs. Your kit should answer those plans. Before ordering anything, lay out the products you would reach for at home during the same period and identify the few that are awkward to pack.
Keep the formula familiar
Travel is an inconvenient time to discover that you dislike a new conditioner or cannot work with a styling product's texture. If familiar miniatures exist, compare those first.
